About the Detectorist One Fund

At Detectorist One, we believe in using our passion for history and metal detecting to make a positive impact. Our Detectorist One Fund is dedicated solely to supporting care farms that provide companionship and care for individuals with various needs, including learning difficulties or those seeking social connection. These incredible places play a vital role in creating joyful, supportive environments, but we understand that keeping them up and running can be a challenge.

 

How the Fund Works

The Detectorist One Fund is sustained through the sale of finds unearthed during metal detecting, merchandise sales, fundraisers, and more. Here's how it works:

• Private and Club Digs: On private permissions, I will share 50% of the proceeds from any finds of value with the landowner, then a generous donation will be taken from the remaining 50% (or 25% if with a detecting. buddy) and go directly into the fund. On club digs, the club's rules regarding finds and proceeds will apply but again any finds of value will be sold and a generous donation of the sale will go to the fund.

• Marketplace: 50% of any sales made through the website's marketplace (coming soon) will go directly into the fund.

 

How the Funds Will Be Used

The money raised will be used to support care farms in meaningful ways, including:

• Donations: Direct financial contributions to help keep care farms operational.

• Day Trips: Organizing enjoyable outings for service users to enrich their experiences.

• Project Funding: Providing financial support for specific projects or essential improvements at care farms.

 

Why This Matters

As a healthcare support worker with over 13 years of experience, I have seen firsthand the importance of creating environments where individuals with additional needs can thrive. One of the care farms I detect at invited me to join them for dinner, and witnessing the happiness of the service users was truly inspiring. This experience solidified my commitment to giving back and supporting these vital spaces.
